Inspired by contemporary composers Earle Brown and Guillermo Gregorio, Interactions Quartet features two multi-movement compositions for sax, oboe, guitar, percussion, and electronics. The pieces are modular in design and are based on improvisation, with nuggets of notated melodic sections defining each new section. Composer Andrew Raffo Dewar studied with Steve Lacy, Anthony Braxton, Alvin Lucier and Bill Dixon, and his aesthetic is heavily influenced by southeast Asian music such as gamelan.
